Premium Audit Examiner (Part-Time)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine audits pertaining to Workmen's Compensation, General Liability, Special Multiple Peril, Garage, and Automobile Risks.
  • Examine and determine earned premium on assigned audits.
  • May handle policies that are retrospective rated and coordinate with H. O. Data Management Department for application of applicable dividends.
  • When necessary, refer to manuals of all states for correct rates of classes added to policy.
  • Review auditor's worksheets and related reports such as policies, endorsements and inspection reports to verify a complete and correct audit.
  • Refer questions in regard to coverages and addition of new classes and new unclassified and unrated vehicles to proper regional office department.
  • Perform necessary calculations, verify auditor's additions, make required additions and corrections, and check out discrepancies by memo to auditor. Where necessary, return audit to auditor for corrections or additional information.
  • Transfer exposures, rates and rate basis from auditor's worksheet to CRT's.
  • Complete automobile fleet sheets showing additions and deletions of vehicles, extend premiums for all coverages and transfer to recap sheets, and insert all necessary automobile and garage liability coding.
  • When necessary, assist in the training of newly assigned Premium Audit Examiners.
  • Communicate with auditors, regional and home office departments, and agents by letter, memo, or telephone.


  • High school or equivalent experience.


  • 18 months to 2 years prior experience in a support role, preferably in insurance.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
